Diamond jewellery

Diamonds have a terrible, natural attraction for grease, and even though a jewel may appear to be clean, if we look at the bottom of the stone we will see a fine layer of grease on the underside. The stone does not have to touch the skin; it absorbs the grease in the area from a distance, and as a result diamond pieces must be cleaned much more assiduously than those with any other gemstone, as the grease on the back eliminates the sparkle and light, both as it enters and as it leaves the stone.

We recommend you clean the piece nearly every day or, if you do not use the jewel frequently, clean it before wearing it. The quickest, most efficient way is to rub it with a very soft hair toothbrush and a little water and washing-up liquid, brush gently, especially the bottom of the stone, rinse generously with water and dry well with a hairdryer.
